Two Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 [Humboldt County, CA]
Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Six-Vehicle Crash in Humboldt County
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (July 9, 2020) – Two people suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 on Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Indianola Cutoff just after 5:00 PM.
Based on a report, at least six vehicles collided at the intersection. The accident happened after an unknown model black BMW sedan was seen driving recklessly. As a result, its driver lost control and spun out in the roadway.
Although it did not collide with any other vehicles, five other vehicles collided while attempting to avoid it. In addition, its driver fled the scene after the crash.
As a result, one driver suffered a major injury and another driver suffered a minor injury. Emergency crews sent both drivers to St. Joseph Hospital for further evaluation of their injuries.
The Humboldt Area CHP is continuing its investigation into this crash. At this time, officials ask anyone who may have information to help identify the vehicle and driver involved to contact the Humboldt Area CHP Office at 707-822-5981.
