Jacumba Hot Springs Accident Leaves 2 Dead, 1 Hospitalized
JACUMBA HOT SPRINGS, CA (July 10, 2020) — Two people died following Thursday’s fiery crash on 8 Freeway near Old Highway 80.
According to Cal Fire, the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the far southeastern part of San Diego County.
Reports say that a car shuttling three people veered out of control and overturned before catching on fire. Two of the occupants died at the scene, and the third was lifted to a trauma center with severe injuries.
Unfortunately, the details about the victims, including age and gender, were not available.
As a result of the accident, four California Highway Patrol officers who tried assisting the victims suffered minor respiratory issues due to smoke inhalation.
At this time, investigators have yet to confirm what caused the accident; however, if anyone has information, please contact local officials.
