Man Arrested After Crash in USPS Parking Lot on Murphy Avenue [Irvine, CA]
Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Fiery Crash near McGaw Avenue
IRVINE, CA (June 12, 2020) – Police arrested a man after a crash in a USPS parking lot in the 17100 block of Murphy Avenue on early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near McGaw Avenue at approximately 3:25 AM.
Authorities arrived at the United States Postal Service’s Harvest and located a black 2010 Dodge Charger that had crashed through a planter into the parking lot. In addition, it caught fire in the incident. Firefighters who put out the fire said that the vehicle was unoccupied.
Officers later found the suspected driver of the vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and Park Plaza. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the earlier crash. However, the driver remained in police custody pending a mental health evaluation.
Never drink and drive and always pay attention to the road to avoid getting into a crash. Do not leave the scene after an accident. However, stay and wait for the authorities to arrive.
