Bicyclist Killed in Aptos Accident
APTOS, CA (November 2, 2020)—A 48-year-old man perished Friday in a bicycle accident on Rio Del Mar Boulevard at Aptos Beach Drive.
According to news reports, the incident happened around 12:20 p.m.
Investigators determined that while traveling westbound on Rio Del Mar Boulevard, the cyclist hit speeds of about 25 to 30 mph while navigating a steep downhill grade.
Unfortunately, the man lost control of the bike and crashed into two parked vehicles in the Rio Del Mar parking area.
Due to the force of the impact, he was hurled off his bike and later died from his severe injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. If anyone can help investigators with this case, please call local authorities.
