Two Vehicles Involved in Suspected DUI Crash on Whale Watch Way near Prestwick Drive in La Jolla
LA JOLLA, CA (October 16, 2020) – Emergency crews transported a 31-year-old woman to the hospital following a suspected DUI crash in the 8500 block of Whale Watch Way on Friday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Prestwick Drive around 4:15 PM.
Based on a report, the victim was driving east on Whale Watch when her 2015 Toyota Prius went through a stop sign at the intersection. Subsequently, it made a left turn to Prestwick and collided with a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse.
As a result, the woman sustained a fractured neck. Crews sent her to the hospital for treatment. The condition of the 44-year-old man who was driving the Chevy is not yet available.
Police said they consider alcohol a factor in the crash. However, they did not make any arrests yet. In addition, an investigation is still ongoing.
