Fatal Car Crash at Highway 3 in Kitsap County
KITSAP COUNTY, WA (July 31, 2020) — One person died Thursday following a car crash at Highway 3 and Highway 308.
According to Trooper Chelsea Hodgson of the State Patrol, paramedics and state troopers responded to the scene around 11:00 a.m. after receiving a report about a major injury collision.
Upon arriving, authorities found a damaged vehicle and pickup truck near the on-ramp to Highway 3. Unfortunately, one driver died at the scene.
Detectives determined through a preliminary investigation that the pickup truck driver was attempting to cross Highway 308 to merge back onto Highway 3 South; however, the driver failed to yield to traffic as it traveled east and collided with the car.
Information surrounding whether the pickup truck driver was injured or charged remains unclear.
