Alex Ounmano Killed in Street-Racing Crash on Highway 168 [Aubrey, CA]
Clovis High School Student Alex Ounmano Dies in Aubrey Car Accident
AUBREY, CA (April 27, 2020) — A Clovis High School student died Wednesday in an alleged street racing accident on Highway 168 near Beal Fire Road.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reported that 17-year-old Alex Ounmano died due to serious injuries.
According to reports, the 2:25 p.m. incident took place on the four-lane highway between Vista Point and Beal Fire Road.
A girl in his car, described as a 17-year-old Clovis High School student, sustained a serious head injury. She is able to communicate with doctors at this time and her recovery appears to be hopeful.
In their investigation, California Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Salas said three cars raced at speeds of about 85 to 100 miles per hour, heading downhill at the time. Ounmano drove a 1996 Acura Integra and crashed into the mountainside. The impact ejected both him and his female passenger from the car. According to reports, both were strapped into their safety belts prior to the impact.
The other drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with police questioning, which ruled out impairment as a possible driver of the accident.
We would like to express our condolences to the friends and family of Alex Ounmano.
