DUI Likely in Fatal Kettleman City Accident on Avenal Cutoff Road
KETTLEMAN CITY (April 20, 2020) — Authorities believe impairment led to Friday’s fatal head-on accident on Avenal Cutoff Road near 30th Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman in her 30s died when a Chevrolet Silverado, traveling in the opposite direction, entered her lane and plowed into her Chevrolet Sonic. Officers determined that the pickup truck entered oncoming traffic while traveling at speeds of about 55 miles per hour.
The unidentified driver of the Chevrolet Silverado suffered moderate injuries, urging paramedics to transport him to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia.
Per investigations, CHP officers believe drugs or alcohol may have driven the accident in the first place; however, officers plan to dive right into this account to determine the ultimate cause.
