Woman Killed in DUI Chain-Reaction Crash on Chapman Avenue and Euclid Street [Garden Grove, CA]
Driver Dies Following 3-Car Pileup in Garden Grove
GARDEN GROVE, CA (April 17, 2020) — A woman involved in a three-vehicle pileup at Chapman Avenue and South Euclid Street Wednesday died shortly after.
According to Master Officer Paul Ashby of the Garden Grove Police Department, the incident unfolded before 1:30 p.m.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene to learn that a white 2017 Honda, as well as two other vehicles, collided in a chain-reaction fashion.
The 27-year-old man driving the white Honda rear-ended a stopped vehicle at the red traffic light. The force pushed the car into a third vehicle, causing a three-car pile-up.
Paramedics responded to the scene. After that, they found a woman in the second car who appeared to be unconscious and not breathing. They immediately transported her to a nearby hospital where she died.
The speed in which the Honda had been traveling at the time remains unknown. However, authorities confirmed that DUI played a role in the Honda driver’s part.
He suffered undisclosed injuries and the two people in the third car were unharmed.
