Man Airlifted After Train Crash near South Meyers Street
OCEANSIDE, CA (April 2, 2020) – Police responded to a crash between a pickup truck and an Amtrak train on Cassidy Street on Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near South Meyers Street around 5:05 PM.
Based on a report from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, a man in a white pickup truck entered the tracks of the train. The train was unable to stop even after the engineer sounded the warning horn. As a result, it hit the truck.
The truck driver was extricated from the wreckage and was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital. The victim suffered serious injuries in the incident.
