Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Impaired Hit-and-Run Driver in Seattle
SEATTLE, WA (April 3, 2020) — A man died in a hit-and-run, DUI pedestrian accident on Aurora Avenue North and North 125th Street on Wednesday, authorities reported.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the 70-year-old man was crossing the street at the intersection around 8:00 p.m. when a northbound vehicle struck him.
Soon after, police and First Responders arrived to find the victim at the scene. Paramedics administered CPR attempts to resuscitate the pedestrian; however, attempts grew shy of success; the man died shortly after.
The driver involved in the crash fled the scene and abandoned the car nearly eight blocks away from the crash site. After the help of police canines and a helicopter yielded no results, officers succeeded in tracking down the suspect in North Seattle where they arrested him without further incident.
According to investigators, the 21-year-old suspect exhibited signs of impairment during the investigation. Officers subsequently booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.
Regarding the victim’s name, the coroner’s office has yet to release it pending notification of next of kin.
Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim.
