Pedestrian Suffers Injury Following San Diego Accident
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 31, 2020) — A driver struck and injured a victim in a pedestrian accident on Iowa Street and El Cajon Boulevard Sunday evening.
According to San Diego Police Officer John Buttle, the 5:00 p.m. crash took place at the intersection. Police reported that a 45-year-old man walking his bicycle northbound in a marked crosswalk sustained serious injuries when a westbound Honda Civic struck him.
Upon impact, the pedestrian slid on the hood and onto the windshield, causing him serious head injury and a fractured right ankle.
During the preliminary investigation, police confirmed that the pedestrian had been walking against a red light.
The driver of the Honda, described as a man in his 40s, stayed at the scene. In addition, he cooperated with police investigators. Police eventually ruled out impairment as a contributing factor.
