Drivers Die in Two-Vehicle Accident in Oakdale
OAKDALE, CA (March 30, 2020) — Two drivers died in a car accident on Highway 108 at Atlas Road last Thursday.
The drivers’ identities have not been released pending notification of their families, and officers have yet to determine whether DUI played a role.
The incident took place around 7:00 a.m. just east of Oakdale. According to the Modesto California Highway Patrol, a 67-year-old man in a 2004 Pontiac coupe was heading eastbound on the highway. Yet for unknown reasons, he lost control of the coupe, causing the vehicle to spin counterclockwise into the path of an oncoming 2015 Nissan sedan.
The front section of the sedan struck the right side of the Pontiac, shearing the Pontiac into two. As a result of the accident, commuters encountered a closure as both vehicles blocked the road for nearly 30 minutes.
Unfortunately, the two drivers–one from Modesto, the other one from Newark– perished in the crash.
Yet anyone with information concerning this accident should call authorities.
