David Placencia Fatally Strikes Female near Carpenter Road [Modesto, CA]
Woman Killed in Modesto Pedestrian Accident just South of Maze Boulevard
MODESTO, CA (January 15, 2021) – Late Friday night, David Placencia fatally struck a woman in a pedestrian accident near Carpenter Road.
Officers received calls around 10:47 p.m., near Carpenter Road involving a vehicle and a female pedestrian. According to reports, 63-year-old Modesto Resident, Placencia, was driving a southbound Toyota Camry at approximately 45 mph.
There, the driver noticed a woman standing in the middle of the lane. Placencia says he was unable to stop in time to avoid striking her head-on.
Due to the impact of the collision, the woman died on scene. Her identity has not been released pending identification and family notification.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has been reopened to the public.
At this time, authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident. Once available, further details will be given.
