One Killed, One Critical in Fiery Car Accident on 405 Freeway [Van Nuys, CA]
Single Vehicle Involved in Fatal Accident on 405 Freeway near Victory Boulevard in Van Nuys
VAN NUYS, CA (January 1, 2021) – Authorities confirmed that one person died in a fiery car accident on 405 Freeway on early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the Victory Boulevard exit around 3:40 AM.
Based on a report, the victim was driving a 2017 Audi R8 on the southbound lane of the freeway prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle went off the road and crashed. Subsequently, it burst into flames before it came to rest in the field near the Woodley Park Archery Range.
The collision trapped the driver inside the car. As a result, medics pronounced the 41-year-old victim dead at the scene. His passenger, a 38-year-old male resident of Canal Winchester, Ohio, was ejected from the Audi. Crews rushed the patient to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in critical condition.
At this time, officials don’t have additional information.
