Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested After Fatal Crash on Artesia Boulevard near Western Avenue in Torrance
TORRANCE, CA (December 22, 2020) – Police arrested Dalton Bolinas following a fatal crash on Artesia Boulevard on Tuesday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Western Avenue around 10:30 PM.
Based on a report, the 19-year-old Torrance man initially fled when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Artesia Boulevard. Subsequently, the Gardena Police Department confirmed that the man collided with another motorist at the intersection of Western Avenue.
As a result, emergency personnel said the other driver died at the scene. Officials did not identify the victim pending kin notification.
Medics then transported Bolinas to a local hospital for unspecified injuries. Later on, officials arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence, grand theft auto, evading, and vehicular manslaughter. At this point, an investigation is still ongoing.
