2 Killed in Wrong-Way Collision on 210 Freeway Near Citrus Avenue [Fontana, CA]
2 Dead Following Fontana Wrong-Way Crash
FONTANA, CA (January 5, 2021)—Two people died Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash on the 210 Freeway near Citrus Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly multi-vehicle incident happened around 2:08 a.m.
Upon responding, CHP officers found three cars involved and two people deceased at the scene.
Investigators canvassed the area for evidence to determine how the incident occurred. Thus far, detectives believe that a 40-year-old Moreno Valley woman crashed her 2007 Lexus into a 2019 Honda in the westbound carpool lane while heading east.
Subsequently, the Lexus struck a 2000 Toyota in the No. 3 lane, causing the Toyota to overturn.
As a result of the accident, a 30-year-old Sylmar woman and a 30-year-old Tujunga man traveling in the Honda perished at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Lexus and Honda drivers suffered major injuries and the Toyota driver sustained only minor injuries.
Because the details of this accident remain scarce, the CHP Rancho Cucamonga office plans to investigate this crash further. Anyone who can help authorities should call (909) 980-3994.
