Two-Vehicle Crash on Broadway near Country Club Drive in Escondido Kills Two
ESCONDIDO, CA (December 20, 2020) – Police confirmed that a man and a woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Broadway on Sunday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Country Club Drive around 9:51 PM.
Based on a report, a 1990 Nissan 300ZX was traveling south on Broadway prior to the crash. At the same time, a 2006 Volvo S40 was eastbound on Country Club. Due to unknown reasons, both cars collided upon entering the intersection, which was controlled by a traffic signal. Subsequently, the collision sent both vehicles south on Broadway. It was unclear who had the right-of-way in the incident.
As a result, the drivers of both vehicles died at the scene. The Nissan driver, a 20-year-old man, was not wearing a seatbelt. Police identified the other driver as a 42-year-old woman. Neither vehicle was carrying any passengers.
