Hit-and-Run Driver Sought After Fatal Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Texas Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 19, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person died following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Texas Street on Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at approximately 5:30 PM.
Based on a report, officers received a call about a pedestrian with major injuries in the lanes. Callers said an unidentified vehicle hit the victim. However, the details that led to the accident were not immediately available. Subsequently, the driver left the scene after the incident.
As a result, emergency crews later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity pending kin notification.
Later on, investigating officers found a vehicle in a driveway at a home a few blocks away. At this point, the investigation is ongoing. In addition, officials ask anyone with information to call Bakersfield Police at 661-327-7111.
