One Killed in Pedestrian Accident Involving Hit-and-Run Driver on Highway 111 [La Quinta, CA]
Driver Sought after Fatal La Quinta Pedestrian Accident
LA QUINTA, CA (December 18, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 111 on Friday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Dune Palms around 7:15 PM.
Based on a report, the pedestrian was on the street and an unidentified vehicle was traveling westbound on Highway 111 prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle struck the pedestrian when the victim crossed the street. Subsequently, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said the driver left before they arrived on the scene.
When paramedics arrived, they performed life-saving procedures, but the pedestrian died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity pending kin notification.
At this time, there is no suspect vehicle description or identity available. In addition, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
