Tyler Cochran Arrested in Fatal DUI Accident on 5 Freeway [Oceanside, CA]
Tyler Cochran Charged Following Deadly DUI Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway at Highway 76
OCEANSIDE, CA (December 17, 2020)—A 22-year-old man died Tuesday night in a DUI rollover accident on the 5 Freeway at Highway 76.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m.
Along the north 5 Freeway at the Highway 76 transition, a driver lost control, while traveling at excessive speeds. Losing control led Tyler James Cochran to drift left and veer off the transition ramp, where it struck an embankment before overturning.
Upon arriving, officers found the Honda on its roof in the left lane at the transition ramp.
Tragically, a 22-year-old man, who authorities learned was unrestrained and ejected, died shortly after at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. At this time, his identity will be released once officials alert his family.
Back at the scene, Cochran, 25, and his 23-year-old male passenger received care for their minor injuries. During the investigation, police noticed that Cochran showed signs of impairment and arrested him on suspicion of DUI, booking him into Vista Detention Facility.
Reports included no other information about this accident, but if anyone would like to help the CHP, please contact the department.
We would like to express our caring thoughts to the friends and family of the victim.
