Single Vehicle Involved in Fatal Crash on Story Road near King Road in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (December 6, 2020) – Authorities identified 15-year-old Amaris Medina as the victim who died in a single-car crash on Story Road on Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near King Road at approximately 03:10 AM.
Based on a report, Jose Martinez, 18, of San Jose was driving a 2013 Honda Accord at a high rate of speed on Story prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it hit a tree and a light pole.
As a result, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office said Medina, 15, of San Jose, died at the scene. In addition, three other passengers, also minors, were hurt in the crash. One suffered life-threatening injuries, while two others suffered serious injuries.
Martinez ran away after the crash. Police later arrested him and booked into the county jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter, driving a stolen vehicle, and hit and run. Jail records show he is being held on $300,000 bail.
