Betsy Lynn Carver Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 44 [Palo Cedro, CA]
Two Vehicles Involved in Head-On Crash on Highway 44 near Deschutes Road in Palo Cedro
PALO CEDRO, CA (December 9, 2020) – Police identified Betsy Lynn Carver as the victim who died in a head-on crash on Highway 44 on Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Deschutes Road around 07:00 AM.
Based on a report, a sedan and pickup truck collided in the lanes. Police said Betsy Lynn Carver drove the sedan and swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting the pickup truck head-on. When officials arrived, they found two vehicles with heavy damage and debris scattered throughout the roadway.
As a result, Carver sustained critical injuries. Medics rushed her to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for further treatment. However, she, later on, succumbed to her injuries and passed away. Shasta County’s Coroner’s office identified her as a 56-year-old Palo Cedro resident. The driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries.
During their subsequent investigation, CHP determined Carver had swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting the pickup truck head-on.
Their investigation is ongoing.
