Two DUI Drivers Involved in Head-On Crash on Melrose Road in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE, CA (December 7, 2020) – Two suspected DUI drivers suffered injuries in a head-on crash on Melrose Road on Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Willowbrook Drive at approximately 08:00 PM.
Based on a report, an Infinity was heading the wrong way on Melrose at the time of the crash. Subsequently, it collided with a Chrysler sedan coming in the opposite direction. As a result, Oceanside police said both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage.
Emergency crews transported a 49-year-old Vista man who driving the infinity to a hospital with complaints of pain in his back and chest. A 30-year-old man from Pauma Valley who was driving the Chrysler complained of injuries to his hands and bruising and cuts in his pelvis area.
Police suspect both drivers were impaired at the time of the collision. In addition, they found a bottle of alcohol in the Infinity and discovered prescription medication and suspected narcotics in the Chrysler.
