Woman Killed, One Injured in Crash Involving Semi-Truck on Highway 99 [Merced, CA]

Woman Hit by Car in Fatal Crash on Highway 99 near Mission Avenue in Merced

 
MERCED, CA (December 9, 2020) – Police confirmed that a woman died in a crash involving a semi-truck on Highway 99 on early Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Mission Avenue shortly before 3:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, the victim was driving her car when she rear-ended a semi-truck. Subsequently, she pulled over and got out on the roadside to check for damage to her car. However, another oncoming semi-truck sideswiped her car, which then hit her.
 
As a result, officers said a woman in her 40s died in the incident. Officials did not yet release her name pending kin notification. Another woman was inside the victim’s car was hurt in the crash. Medics transported her to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
 
At this point, the cause of this deadly crash is still under investigation.
