Hit-and-Run Vehicle Involved in Scooter Crash on Mott Street at Whittier Boulevard in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (December 4, 2020) – An elderly man suffered critical injuries after a hit-and-run crash on Mott Street on Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Whittier Boulevard around 10:35 AM.
Based on a report, the victim was crossing the street on his seated scooter at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle struck him. Subsequently, the impact knocked him off his scooter, allowing the compact SUV to drag him for half a block.
The driver stopped and a witness helped him dislodge the scooter from the vehicle, then the man fled the scene.
As a result, the Los Angeles Police Department said the victim is now in critical condition.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division described the vehicle as a silver Mazda CX-5. At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
