72-year-Old Woman Dies in Pedestrian Crash on West Henderson Street [Humboldt County, CA]
Elderly Pedestrian Struck and Injured by Vehicle on West Henderson Street in Humboldt County
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (December 1, 2020) – Officers confirmed that a 72-year-old woman died in a pedestrian crash on West Henderson Street on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Eureka Police Department, the collision happened near Central Street at about 3:30 PM.
Based on a report, the woman was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk and in front of oncoming westbound traffic at the time of the crash. Consequently, a vehicle struck her. The driver stated that she did not see the pedestrian crossing the road.
As a result, the elderly woman suffered injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported her to the hospital by ambulance with major injuries. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital. The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office did not yet release the victim’s identity pending kin notification.
Officers evaluated the driver of the vehicle at the scene and it did not appear drugs or alcohol were a factor. At this time, the collision remains under investigation. In addition, officials ask anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact Det. Rick Bise at (707) 441-4109.
