Freddie Chatto Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 64 [Farmington, NM]
Freddie Chatto Fatally Struck by SUV on Highway 64 Near Highway 371
FARMINGTON, NM (December 8, 2020) — A 48-year-old Kirtland man died in Tuesday’s pedestrian accident on Highway 64 near Highway 371 on December 1.
According to New Mexico State Police, an SUV driver failed to see Freddie Chatto walking in a poorly lit area of the westbound lanes of the highway. That, combined with the dark clothing he bore around 7:00 p.m., may have led to the crash.
Per police, Chatto may have been impaired at the time of the accident. However, an investigation regarding the ultimate cause of the accident continues.
Following the incident, the driver, who evaded harm, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigations. If anyone would like to help the New Mexico State Police with this case, please call the department.
We would like to express our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Freddie Chatto.
