Man Ejected, Hit by Another Vehicle in Fatal Accident on Highway 4 near Highway 242 in Concord
CONCORD, CA (December 3, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person died in a car accident on Highway 4 on Sunday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Highway 242 at approximately 11:30 PM.
Based on a report, the victim was a passenger in a black 1994 Honda Civic that was traveling on the highway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the concrete center divider. The car tumbled over the divider and down the center dirt embankment and ended up on its roof.
Police said the passenger was not wearing a seat belt. Subsequently, the impact ejected him from the car and another vehicle came and hit him.
As a result, emergency crews said the man died at the scene. Officials only identified him as a Pittsburg resident. In addition, the driver of the car suffered minor injuries.
There were no obvious signs that driving under the influence caused the crash. At this time, the case remains under investigation. In addition, officials ask anyone with information to call the CHP’s Contra Costa office at 925-646-4980.
