19-Year-Old Esteban Sanchez Jr. Killed in Car Crash on Highway 43 [Bakersfield, CA]
Vehicle Overturned in Fatal Crash on Highway 43 near Panama Lane in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 3, 2020) – Authorities identified Esteban Sanchez Jr. as the victim who died in a car crash on Highway 43 on Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Panama Lane at approximately 2:49 AM.
Based on a report, the 19-year-old Bakersfield man was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla westbound on Panama Lane at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted off the roadway and overturned within the eastbound lane. At the same time, a 21-year-old man was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry in the eastbound lane of Panama Lane at an unknown speed. Subsequently, the man collided with the Corolla while Sanchez was still inside the vehicle.
As a result, Sanchez suffered fatal injuries. An attending coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. In addition, the other driver suffered serious injuries in the incident. Medics transported the victim to Kern Medical for treatment.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the case.
