81-Year-Old Man Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Walerga Road [North Highlands, CA]
Man Arrested for DUI after Fatal North Highlands Pedestrian Crash on Walerga Road
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (December 3, 2020) – Police confirmed that an 81-year-old man died in a pedestrian crash on Walerga Road on Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Bainbridge Drive at approximately 9:18 AM.
Based on a report, the elderly Sacramento man was walking his bike along the right sidewalk of Bainbridge at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle drove up onto the sidewalk and hit the victim.
As a result, the elderly victim suffered fatal injuries. Emergency crews transported him to the hospital, where he later died. His name was not immediately available.
The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man from Sacramento, stayed at the scene. Officers later arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. At this point, no other information is immediately available.
