One Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 55 [Costa Mesa, CA]
Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Car on Highway 55 near 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa
COSTA MESA, CA (November 26, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person died in a pedestrian crash on northbound Highway 55 on early Thursday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near 405 Freeway at approximately 3:20 AM.
Based on a report, the pedestrian was at the right shoulder of the freeway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a white Ford Fusion came and struck the victim.
As a result, the pedestrian died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the deceased’s identity pending kin notification.
Crews closed the Nos. 3, 4, and 5 lanes of the highway while a clearing operation took place in the area.
The police are now working on the investigation. At this point, no additional detail is available.
