Two Injured in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on North Sixth Avenue [Yakima, WA]
DUI Driver Arrested after Serious Pedestrian Crash on North Sixth Avenue near Gordon Road in Yakima
YAKIMA, WA (November 20, 2020) – At least two people suffered injuries in a pedestrian crash on North Sixth Avenue on Friday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Gordon Road around 6:00 PM.
Based on a report, a white Ford Expedition struck the victims in the lanes. Subsequently, the driver of the Ford fled the scene without rendering aid to the victims.
As a result, police found a 28-year-old woman unconscious when they arrived on the scene. She suffered life-threatening injuries, including a brain bleed. Medics airlifted her to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. In addition, medics transported a 47-year-old man to Virginia Mason Memorial hospital for minor injuries.
Police later arrested the 55-year-old Ford driver. Yakima police booked the man into Yakima County jail on suspicion of vehicular assault, hit-and-run injury, driving with a suspended license, and driving without an ignition interlock device. However, officials continue to investigate the case.
After an accident, wait for the authorities to arrive. In addition, do not leave the scene. Ultimately, always stay sober, manage your speed, and avoid reckless driving to avoid getting into an accident.
