One Killed, One Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash on 80 Freeway [Fernley, NV]
Wrong-Way Driver Causes Head-On Crash on 80 Freeway near Nevada Pacific Parkway in Fernley
FERNLEY, NV (November 22, 2020) – Authorities confirmed that one person died in a head-on crash on 80 Freeway on late Sunday evening.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Nevada Pacific Parkway at approximately 11:30 PM.
Based on a report, a pickup truck was heading westbound on the freeway prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, its driver crossed into the eastbound lanes. Subsequently, the truck hit another pickup truck head-on.
As a result, NHP officers reported that a driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity pending kin notification. In addition, the other driver suffered serious injuries. Medics transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe impairment may have been a factor in the incident. However, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
