Motorcyclist Killed, Bicyclist Injured in Crash on San Ramon Valley Boulevard [Danville, CA]
Motorcycle and Bicycle Involved in Fatal Crash on San Ramon Valley Boulevard near Fountain Springs Drive in Danville
DANVILLE, CA (November 22, 2020) – Authorities confirmed that a motorcyclist died in a crash on San Ramon Valley Boulevard on Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Fountain Springs Drive at approximately 12:30 PM.
Based on a report, the motorcyclist was traveling south on San Ramon Valley at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a cyclist in the southbound bicycle lane lost control and fell into the traffic lane. Subsequently, the motorcycle struck the bicycle and crashed.
As a result, the rider suffered serious injuries in the incident. Paramedics from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District responded but the victim died at the scene. Officials only described the victim as a 52-year-old Danville resident. Medics transported the cyclist to San Ramon Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Police closed San Ramon for a time while rescue and clearing operations took place. At this time, the collision is still under investigation by Danville police.
