Augustus Staton Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Myrtle Avenue [Cotati, CA]
Pedestrian Augustus Staton Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Cotati
COTATI, CA (November 16, 2020) – Authorities identified Augustus Staton as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on Myrtle Avenue on Monday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Macklin Drive at approximately 12:30 PM.
Based on a report, the victim was walking his dog at the southern edge of Helen Putnam Park at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a commercial van came and struck him.
As a result, the pedestrian died at the scene. The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office identified him as
Augustus Staton, 55, of Cotati. His dog was not hurt in the incident.
The driver stayed at the crash site and cooperated with police. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. However, Cotati investigators are still investigating the case.
