Driver Killed in Car Accident on San Dieguito Road Near Derby Farms Road [Rancho Santa Fe, CA]
1 Dead Another Injured in Fiery Multi-Car Crash in Rancho Santa Fe
RANCHO SANTA FE, CA (November 19, 2020) — One person died Tuesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle fiery accident on San Dieguito Road near Derby Farms Road.
According to San Diego Police, the fatal crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 14900 block of San Dieguito Road.
In the North City area, a westbound driver in a McLaren sports car tried passing up a westbound vehicle. The driver used the opposing lane of the two-lane road yet ended up sideswiping the westbound car and lost control.
As a result, the McLaren subsequently struck an eastbound vehicle that caused the vehicle to spin out before a box truck broadsided the sports car.
Tragically, the McLaren sports car driver died in the accident after the vehicle engulfed in flames. At this time, the identity and age of the victim have not been released.
Per reports, only a passenger in the box truck sustained a knee injury in the accident.
