Justin Thompson-Petersen, Samantha Grimes, Chelsea Trevenen Hospitalized in Three-Car Crash on Highway 101 at Carlsborg Road
SEQUIM, WA (November 17, 2020)—Several people, including children, were injured during Friday’s multi-car accident on Highway 101 at Carlsborg Road.
According to Washington State Patrol, a westbound vehicle, driven by Justin Thompson-Petersen, failed to stop at the red traffic light.
Because of this, his 2002 Mazda Protege struck 30-year-old Samantha Grimes‘ 2011 GMC Terrain at a high rate of speed. Investigators learned that the initial impact occurred when Grimes’ GMC began crossing the intersection.
As a result of the impact, the GMC Terrain struck a 2017 Chevy Equinox, driven by 32-year-old Chelsea Trevenen, leaving debris in its wake.
Following the accident, paramedics airlifted 23-year-old Thompson-Petersen, of Sequim, from Sequim Valley Hospital to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. According to State Patrol, officers have pending charges against him.
As for Grimes, of Port Angeles, and her three passengers, including an 8-year-old Port Angeles girl, paramedics transported them to Olympic Medical Center. Fortunately, a 7-year-old female passenger in her car escaped harm.
Meanwhile, medical personnel took Trevenen to Olympic Medical Center for unspecified injuries.
Although an investigation continues, police have ruled out alcohol and drugs as possible causes of the accident. If anyone has more details about this accident, please contact investigators.
