Velton Johnson Dies in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash at East 7th Street [Long Beach, CA]
Velton Johnson Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle at East 7th Street and Ultimo Avenue
LONG BEACH, CA (March 24, 2020) — A beloved social studies teacher died last Monday in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident at East 7th Street and Ultimo Avenue.
Loved ones held a memorial for the 37-year-old social studies, history and gardening teacher who taught at Free L.A. High School.
As of late, Long Beach Police announced that they remain amid the investigation for the whereabouts of the hit-and-run driver who struck Velton Johnson around 9:50 p.m. as he tried crossing the street.
After being hit, a second vehicle, described as a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, struck the gravely injured man. The 61-year-old Long Beach woman operating the Jeep stopped at the scene and contacted paramedics; however, in spite of life-saving efforts, Johnson succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
