BUTTE COUNTY, CA (November 16, 2020) — At least three people died Saturday morning following a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 99 near Biggs East Highway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 12:30 a.m. collision happened during dense fog and forced a closure on Highway 99 between Gridley and Biggs for hours.
Under unclear circumstances, 10 vehicles collided, including five big rigs and five cars.
Per authorities, low visibility may have contributed to the accident.
As of now, the precise number of fatalities has not been determined, but an ongoing investigation continues.
