One Dead in Multi-Car Accident on Highway 299 Near Oak Run Road [Shasta County, CA]
Shasta County Fatal Accident on Highway 299
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (November 12, 2020) — One person perished Tuesday following a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 299 near Oak Run Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, crews responded to reports of the crash around 11:00 a.m.
Arriving authorities had to close all lanes east of Ingot Canyon in Shasta due to the crash.
In the investigation, authorities confirmed that a bale of hay purportedly fell off a westbound hay hauler, which caused a driver to crash. Subsequently, more drivers became involved in the accident, which resulted in a pile-up that possibly involved a total of two big rigs.
Unfortunately, one person died in the incident and authorities are looking into the details to determine where the fault lies and the precise events that occurred.
If any witnesses can help authorities confirm the circumstances of the crash, please contact the CHP.
