Woman Killed in Scooter Crash on Highway 509 [Burien, WA]
Wrong-Way Driving Ends in Fatal Scooter Crash on Highway 509 near 112th Street in Burien
BURIEN, WA (November 4, 2020) – Officials confirmed that a woman died in a scooter crash on Highway 509 on Wednesday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near 112th Street shortly after 11:00 PM.
Based on a report, the 38-year-old woman drove her 2009 Genuine Buddy scooter south in the northbound lanes. Subsequently, she collided with a Mazda that was heading north on the road. As a result, the impact ejected the woman off the scooter.
Emergency crews pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Officials did not yet release her identity pending kin notification. The driver of the Mazda was not hurt in the incident.
Troopers don’t know why the woman was riding the wrong way. However, an investigation is ongoing.
