Steven Manriquez Killed After Rear-Ending Big Rig on 210 Freeway [Glendora, CA]
Car Driver Dies in Crash with Big Rig on 210 Freeway near Sunflower Avenue in Glendora
GLENDORA, CA (November 2, 2020) – Police identified Steven Manriquez as the car driver who died after rear-ending a big rig on 210 Freeway on late Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the Sunflower Avenue exit at about 11:35 PM.
Based on a report, Manriquez was driving a 2015 Toyota Avalon in the No. 4 lane of the freeway at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Subsequently, he rear-ended a 2004 Freightliner big rig. As a result, the force of the collision ejected him from his car and an unknown vehicle passed and struck him.
Consequently, Manriquez died at the scene. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified him as a 27-year-old resident of Rowland Heights. The big rig driver, 57-year-old Cesar Morondo of Lake Elsinore, was not hurt in the incident.
CHP said Alcohol and/or drugs may have played a factor in this collision. However, officers ask anyone with information on the crash to call CHP at 626-338-1164.
