Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident Involving Gilberto Bazan in Toppenish
TOPPENISH, WA (October 31, 2020) – Police confirmed that Deputy Gilberto Bazan struck and killed a woman in a pedestrian accident on Fort Road on Saturday night.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near the intersection of Becker Road shortly after 10:00 PM.
Based on a report, the woman was lying in the road prior to the crash. Subsequently, the Yakima County Sheriff’s deputy who was driving east on Fort came and he struck the victim.
As a result, the Yakima County Coroner’s Office said the woman died at the scene. Her name was not immediately available pending kin notification.
The rural area has no street lighting and the woman was wearing dark clothes at the time of the accident. In addition, there is some indication that she may have been previously struck by another vehicle. However, the investigation into the case is still ongoing.
