1 Dead, 2 Injured in Solo-Car Accident on 15 Freeway Near Rainbow Valley Boulevard [Temecula, CA]
Fatal Rollover Crash Kills 1, Injures 2
TEMECULA, CA (October 19, 2020) — A single-vehicle rollover car accident Friday on the 15 Freeway near Rainbow Valley Boulevard West left a woman dead.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 7:15 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway.
Inferring from the investigation, Officer Mike Lassig said a 29-year-old man from Upland entered a construction zone area while traveling about 70 mph on the freeway.
Subsequently, the 1993 Honda Civic made an unsafe turning movement, causing the driver to lose control, veer toward the center divider and travel up a dirt embankment. As a result, the Honda overturned several times, partially ejecting a woman, who later died at the scene.
With haste, paramedics responded and transported the driver and one female passenger—who had either been the 28-year-old Ontario woman or the 45-year-old Covina woman riding in the Honda—to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
According to police, the survivors sustained life-threatening injuries. Additionally, police learned that neither occupant had worn a safety belt.
Since the cause of the accident needs more examination, detectives encourage witnesses to contact them with new details.
