Carlos Rodriguez Among Dead in Head-On Accident on Ramona Expressway [San Jacinto, CA]
Carlos Rodriguez Dead, Another Driver Killed in Two-Car Accident on Ramona Expressway Near North Warren Road
SAN JACINTO, CA (August 11, 2020)—Two people died in Saturday’s head-on crash on Ramona Expressway near North Warren Road.
The two-car accident happened around 5:40 a.m. just west of North Warren Road, Sgt. Mike Heath of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
According to witnesses, one of the vehicles caught on fire.
Inferring from the investigation, authorities believe that a black Kia Spectra heading westbound on Ramona Expressway drifted over the double yellow lines for unknown reasons. There, it struck an eastbound Ford Expedition head-on.
At this time, details surrounding whether other occupants were involved remain unclear. However, reports noted that firefighters found a driver trapped inside one car after extinguishing the flames.
As a result of the crash, two men ended up dying, one of whom had been identified by the Riverside coroner as 74-year-old Carlos Rodriguez, of Perris. The identity of the other driver has not been accounted for.
