Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident in Ventura
VENTURA, CA (October 15, 2020) — A 40-year-old man died in a fiery solo-car accident on Highway 101 at South California Street Monday night.
According to reports, the fatal accident took place around 10:50 p.m.
Along the north side of the freeway, the 40-year-old, driving a 2017 Dodge Journey northbound, veered off the roadway and slammed into a concrete wall.
Subsequently, the car overturned and landed in the far-right lane of the highway, where it caught on fire.
Shortly after, firefighters arrived and began putting out the flames before pulling out the seriously injured driver. However, the Los Angeles man died as a result of his injuries.
It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident but an investigation, led by the California Highway Patrol officers, continues.
Our thoughts and sincere sympathies are with the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
