Joshua Downs Charged Following Deadly Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident on Montano Road Northwest Near Coors Boulevard Northwest
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (October 15, 2020) — The hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a bicyclist and injured another on Montano Road Northwest near Coors Boulevard Northwest has been arrested.
According to news, the two unidentified by cyclists were riding along Montano Road Northwest when a vehicle struck the pair and took off.
Fortuitously, Good Samaritans—a nurse and a former medic—tended to the injured bicyclists, one of whom died later at UNMH. As of now, the current condition of the other cyclist is unknown.
Per news statements, Joshua Downs has been identified as the 29-year-old driver who took off without checking on the victims.
Police will be charging him with vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, as well as leaving the scene of the accident.
