DUI Driver Arrested after Pedestrian Accident on East Portland Avenue in Tacoma
TACOMA, WA (October 10, 2020) – A pedestrian is now in critical condition after a DUI accident in the 4400 block of East Portland Avenue on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened between East 46th Street and East 44th Street.
Based on a report, the victim was sitting at the bus stop at the time of the crash. Due to an unknown reason, a vehicle traveling northbound on Portland Avenue jumped the curb and hit him.
As a result, emergency crews said the victim suffered critical injuries. They transported him to the hospital for treatment. They only identified him as a 51-year-old man.
Tacoma Police arrested the 24-year-old driver of the vehicle for DUI. However, they continue to investigate the case.
