Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 20 near Highway 19 in Port Townsend
PORT TOWNSEND, WA (October 8, 2020) – Police arrested Che Salazar after a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 20 on early Friday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near the Highway 19 turnoff just after 5:40 PM.
Based on a report, the 37-year-old Poulsbo man was driving a vehicle west on the highway when two vehicles ahead of him slowed for traffic. Due to an unknown reason, he struck a vehicle in front of him. Subsequently, that vehicle struck a third vehicle in front of it. Salazar fled the scene after the incident.
As a result, emergency crews transported 56-year-old Florence M. Lail, the driver of one of the vehicles, to Jefferson Healthcare hospital as a precautionary measure. Two other motorists, 26-year-old Zachary C. Bundschuh and 24-year-old Shelagh M. Sweeney, were not hurt in the incident.
Later on, police officers arrested Che Salazar for investigation of possession with intent to deliver and hit-and-run after a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash.
